FOLIO’s Trillium Release

Building an Ever Better FOLIO

PHILADELPHIA — July 14, 2026 — The FOLIO Open Source Community has issued its latest named release, Trillium, which includes new features, enhancements, and bug fixes for the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP), supporting both single-tenant environments and the consortial model (ECS).

Below are highlights from the Trillium release. Full details can be found in our Notes on Functionality, prepared by our amazing FOLIO Product Owners.

  • Agreements and Licenses:
    • New support for acquisitions units (the same mechanism used by Orders, Organizations, Invoices, and Finance) for fine-grained control over who can view, edit, and delete agreements, agreement lines, licenses, and amendments
    • New integration for remote GOKB title search allows users to search for titles directly in GOKB without those titles needing to be present in the local KB
    • New feature to delete the content (titles) of a package from the local knowledge bases while retaining the package header information
    • New Entitlement log enhancement that displays information from the Agreements Local KB only on what resources have been added to, updated within or removed from a library’s collection of eResources based on their current agreements
  • Bulk Edit:
    • New support for creating and managing Bulk Edit profiles by users for repeatable Bulk Edit jobs.
    • Setting Instance Records for Deletion in Bulk
    • New support for querying repeatable fields in the Bulk Edit Query Builder, with support for new fields from the purchase order line,  instance, holdings, and item record, such as call numbers, language, or fund distribution
    • Bulk Edit now has a “Reset all” button
  • Circulation: FOLIO supports the circulation of items for use at a location.
  • Data Export:
    • Ability to lock and delete Data Export profiles
    • Ability to export Linked data in JSON format
    • Ability to save the UUIDs from an Authority search to use in Data Export
    • Enhanced support to export Authority records using CQL
  • Data Import:
    • ECS: Ability to restrict Data Import actions in member tenant to local instances
    • Enhancement to the stop processing job where the job is stopped
    • Removal of the match criterion options in the Data Import match field mapping profile
    • 29 bug fixes come with Trillium to enhance and stabilize Data Import
  • eHoldings and eUsage (ERM):
    • In eHoldings, the user can now select columns to display on the Package detail record’s list
    • In eUsage, new support for COUNTER5.1 and enhancements to the calculations
  • Fulfillment: (ECS) New support to prevent inactive patrons from submitting requests
  • Inventory Import App: Inventory Import provides a way to bring bibliographic information into FOLIO. Any XML-based format, including MARCXML, can be used, and transformation pipelines can be defined for different import channels. Imported records, once transformed, are added to the FOLIO inventory. Inventory import is format-agnostic and scalable. It can be used to import very large jobs, e.g., during data migration, or for upsert jobs with near-real-time updates to FOLIO inventory.   • Inventory:
    • Title and Contributor added to Classification Browse
    • Re-order items records
    • Search for a barcode in the Item Keyword search option
    • Electronic Access URI relationship in the query and All search
    • Normalized ISSN
    • Instance HRID to results list
    • (ECS): Held by facet will default to the current tenant
    • (ECS): Tenant can set default columns to display in the Inventory search
    • NEW: Inventory Import provides a way to bring bibliographic information into FOLIO, designed for the German Library’s Networks CBS2FOLIO workflow.
  • List App: Extended functionality to query authority records
  • MARC Authority:
    • Contextual drop-down support for the MARC field 008
    • (ECS): Authority control reports identifying if a record is shared or local
  • OAI-PMH: Improved visibility to settings with notification and status more clearly designated
  • Orders:
    • Support to allow a library to set an alternate exchange rate source
    • New integration with EBSCO’s Mosaic
    • CHANGE to EXISTING BEHAVIOR: When an order with “receipt not required” is created, the ordering and receiving quantities are now automatically set to independent
  • Receiving: New support to assign an editable numeric sequence in Receiving
  • Staff Slips:
    • To support the Circulation new For use at location functionality, there is a new staff slip token and edit options using basic HTML
    • Pick slips can be sorted before printing
  • User Preferences: Users can set their language preference in their profile
  • Users:
    • Custom field display accordion configuration
    • Patron photo capture
    • New custom fields to display at checkout
    • Enhancements to the UI to make the display clearer
  • Number Generators:
    • Number generators can be used for User barcodes, Item barcodes using Fast Add, and additional Call numbers in Inventory (Holdings and Item records)

The next release will be the Umbrella Leaf Release (release schedule to be determined).
