In a new video, Dean B. Krafft, Chief Technology Strategist at Cornell University Library, talks about his library’s involvement in the FOLIO project to create an open source library services platform.
“We have always been very interested in solutions that allow us to innovate…that don’t tie us to a particular vendor,” says Krafft about the Cornell Library. “FOLIO allows libraries to innovate on their core solutions while at the same time providing a platform that we can eventually use for new services.”
On the collaboration, Krafft remarks that “I don’t think we’ve been on any projects with this large a team working in this kind of agile development style in the open source community on an open source project.”
“For FOLIO and the FOLIO community, the existence of service providers and EBSCO’s commitment to providing hosted solutions to the platform is, I think, is absolutely critical.”
