In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, many SIGS have altered their meeting schedules. Some hold virtual meetings or weekly community check-ins to ensure the health and safety — both physical and mental — of the FOLIO community.
The Resource Management SIG did not hold any full meetings in this time period, but work continued with both the Acquisitions Small Group and the the ERM Subgroup. The Acquisitions Small Group met about notifications and allocations. The ERM Subgroup discussed notes and additional descriptive information for internal knowledge base objects.
The Metadata Management SIG held their first virtual edit-a-thon on March 27 where they updated various sections of the Tips & Tricks portion of the FOLIO wiki. In the past few weeks, the SIG has discussed search result counts, HRID handling, and how to continue to refine documentation — particularly how to point to the most current & authoritative sources. Subgroup work continues on Data Import, Data Export, and entity management.
The Reporting SIG will be doing light updates through April 14 in response to the impact of COVID-19. Angela Zoss released a useful new Data Dictionary (FOLIO Schema Parser) to support report prototype development in all functional areas. Report prototype and query development have begun in Electronic Resource Management (ERM).
The Sys Ops & Mgt SIG discussed the high level priorities for Q2, as were presented to the product council. The group finds it reasonable to focus on the Round 2 Implementers. This will be a benefit to the whole project, when these implementers will go live as planned. The SIG also agrees with the prioritization of the NFRs mentioned.
The SIG also looked at the Q1-2020 pre-release and discussed changes as compared to the Edelweiss release. Members of the SysOps SIG will test the Fameflower pre-release.
The Community Outreach SIG The Outreach SIG is not currently meeting, but is hosting weekly community check-ins on Tuesdays at 9 AM EST. This meant to help lift the spirits of community members during this time and offer an opportunity to see each other.
The recording for the April 1 FOLIO Forum on Experiences from Early Implementers from the Forum Facilitators SIG is available on the Open Library Foundation YouTube channel. The next FOLIO Forum will be on April 29 and will cover the Fameflower Roadmap Update and a demonstration of Course Reserves apps.
